I own this in its first edition. Its an amazing book for a few reasons. First of all, there are some major American poets in it who published here, before they were major American poets. (Its editor, Bruce Taylor, was prescient at spotting major talent in the making.) So you will see early work by great poets whose later work made them famous. It is also a fascinating cultural artifact, because of the poems and their content, and also because the author photos so explicitly express the era. Almost every photo seems straight out of the Summer of Love.

And yet the poetry itself generally transcends the era, is smart, well-crafted, and edgy. I love this book.
